Kris Fierens (°1957, BE) is a well known Belgian artist, living and working in Antwerp (BE), who expresses himself through painting, sculpture and installation. Fierens’ paintings are deeply committed to themselves, trusting the minimal forms to create a delicate dance between abstraction and figuration.
During his artistic career, he was awarded several prestigious prizes both at regional as at national level. These include “Prijs van de Provincie”, Antwerp, BE (1984); “Prix de la Jeune Peinture Belge”, Palais des Beaux Arts, Brussels, BE (1988) and “Prijs van de Hedendaagse Schilderkunst”, Antwerp, BE (1995).
A selection of his extensive list of exhibitions in Belgium and abroad include: “You never walk alone”, soloshow, Worksoundpdx (Center for Contemporary Art and Culture), Portland, USA (2011); “Inbox”, solo exhibition and bookpresentation, Mhka (Museum of Contemporary Art), Antwerp, BE (2014); “Dans tout ses éclats”, group show, Centre d’art contemporain Luxembourg Belgique, Montauban, LU (2016); “Parcours d’eau”, group exhibition, Château de Seneffe, BE (2017) and “Ecce homo”, group exhibition, Geukens Devil, Antwerp (2017/2018).
His work has been included in collections of renowned cultural institutions and museums, as well as in important private collections.
