About this work

In his paintings – and especially in his more abstract works- Tom succeeds in treating classical themes such as Landscape and Vanitas in a contemporary, humoristic manner, linking grandiose aesthetics to everyday banalities and anecdotes. The artist’s fascination with medieval history and religious symbols are synthesized as a pictorial translation of a self authored mythology.

“Painting is like a movie, where behind-the-scenes is already in the picture.” Tom takes us on a journey through a pictorial “No Man’s Land” filled with strange creatures that cross the borders of abstraction.
